Sometimes I’ll see something and completely obsess over how it moves. These idents for Discover Japan is exactly one of those pieces. It’s so inspiring. Everything from the way that engine rattles to the smooth sweeping orbit in the planet ident. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve watched that planet ident about 50 times. It’s got a real nice use of a photorealistic style. When applied to the surreal setting, it creates a combined sense of familiarity and curiosity, which compliments the Discovery brand well.

Without inspiration, not a lot of creative work would ever be done and, even if it was finished, it wouldn’t be any good. Here at Curveball, we’ve got a whole library of curated work to dip into when our minds run dry. We’ll look at everything from colour themes to sound design, and every conceivable thing around that. We’ll make it a point to have a think about the target audience and what it does for them. It all helps us move ahead.
With that in mind, we wanted to share some bits each month that have really caught our eye. We’ll be posting a few stars each month, with everything from explainer videos, short films and everything in between.
